Sea Isle Development Project

The future site of the Sea Isle Properties townhouses. After about 24 years and multiple downsizings of this implausible project, the plan to put 8 residential units on what can best be described as a sand bar, that extends from Shore Road out into Glen Cove Creek, near the Sea Cliff-Glen Cove border. Much of this property is a protected wetlands area. The remaining acreage does not seem suitable for any human habitation, particularly when the tide is higher than the norm. The photos above show the property inundated by the combination of Spring Tide (higher than normal high tide) plus the storm surge due to the Nor'easter on Sunday, 15 April to Monday, 16 April 2007. One wonders whether potential buyers of these properties, were they to be built on this land, would be ever able to obtain homeowners insurance.
